Hu Linyi

Hu Linyi (1812- 1861), whose courteous name was Kuangsheng and his literary name was Runzhi. He came from Yiyang, Hunan. He was a general in the Xiang army (the Hunan local militia) as well as one of the most famous ministers in the resurgence of the late Qing Dynasty. In the middle of 1830s, Hu Linyi devoted himself to studies in Chengnan Academy. [See page 4284 ofCihai, (1999 compact edition) for more details.]
