Zhang Shi

Zhang Shi (1133-1180) , whose courtesy names were Jingfu, Qinfu and Lezhai, got his literary name Nanxuan, so he was called Master Nanxuan. He was born in Mianzhou, Hanzou ( now belonging to Sichuan Province ). He was a scholar in the Southern Song Dynasty. In 1611 he established Chengnan Academy, which is the predecessor of Hunan First Normal University. From 1161 to 1168, he worked as the principle and main lecturer of Chengnan Academy.
