In April, 2026, Hunan First Normal University organized a series of digital resource promotion activities under the theme “Unlock the Digital Treasure House, Let Knowledge Shine”. The campaign, designed to support the national “Reading for All” initiative, aimed to help students and faculty make better use of library resources.
Vice President Shi Yuanquan visited the on‑site events and noted the campaign’s importance for student learning, faculty research, and overall teaching quality. “The library should remain people‑centered and continuously expand its information service,” he said.
The university used a dual‑track approach: online promotion plus in‑person sessions. Online, the library launched a “2026 Digital Resource Promotion” web-page with a resource map of introductions, guides, and previews. A new “Monthly Digital Resource Recommendation” column provides weekly database analysis plus quizzes and challenges. Since early April, 22 major database vendors have showcased 24 digital resources. Offline, a 10‑day exhibition at the library and canteen entrance allowed database trainers to demonstrate features, distribute brochures, and offer face‑to‑face guidance on literature search, drawing warm responses from students and faculty.
The library also partnered with Shanghai Xinhua Bookstore for a “You Choose, We Pay” on‑site book fair. Readers could borrow newly displayed books using their campus ID cards. Nearly 2,000 copies of over 1,000 titles were available, and faculty and students selected more than 610 copies on the spot.
Looking ahead, the library plans to continue the monthly online column and hold regular “Information Literacy Workshop” lectures. The efforts aim to make digital resources a solid backbone for research and learning, supporting the university’s academic development and the cultivation of innovative talents.
