A group of international students from Hunan First Normal University (HNFNU) visited the historic Chengnan Academy as part of a cultural study tour activity organized by the university’s Office of International Exchange and Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan Affairs on May 23.
The students, coming from countries including Russia and Algeria, toured the ancient academy complex accompanied by faculty and student volunteers. Through on‑site explanations, they learned about the academy’s history, thousand‑year cultural legacy, and deep connections to Huxiang culture. The visit offered an immersive experience of traditional Chinese academy culture.
The group then visited Mao Zedong and Hunan First Normal School Memorial, which includes classrooms, dormitories, and an ancient well. With the help of historical artifacts and displays, they gained insight into HNFNU’s century‑long normal school tradition, its revolutionary heritage, and its enduring educational mission of cultivating talent to serve the nation.
The international students actively asked questions and took notes throughout the tour. Many said the activity gave them a direct and vivid understanding of Huxiang culture and the history of Chinese normal education, deepening their appreciation of Chinese civilization.
The study tour is part of HNFNU’s broader efforts to promote international education and share Chinese culture with the world. The university plans to continue offering such cultural study tour activities, providing international students with high‑quality platforms for cultural experience and exchange, while telling the story of HNFNU and spreading Chinese culture.
