Zhang Baixi

Zhang Baixi (1847-1907), whose courtesy name was Yeqiu, was born in Changsha, Hunan. He was a famous official in the late Qing dynasty. Before having got Jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) in 1874, he was absorbed in his studies in Chengnan Academy.[See page 1314 of Cihai (1999 compact edition) for more details] .
