Mao Zedong

Mao Zedong (December 26,1893-September 9,1976),whose courtesy name was Runzhi, was born in Shaoshanchong (now belonging to Shaoshan City), Xiangtan, Hunan. He was a great proletarian revolutionary,statesman, militarist, a major founder and leader of the Communist Party of China, Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the People's Republic of China, and a main creator of Mao Zedong Thought as well. From the spring of 1913 to the summer of the 1918, Mao pursued his studies in Hunan First Normal School (HFNS). From the summer of 1920 to the spring of 1923,Mao worked as the principle in the affiliated primary school to HFNS, the leader of alumni community and a part-time Chinese teacher in Normal Department for Class 22 in the second semester of the year 1921.[See page 1759 ofCiHai(1999compact edition ) for more details]
