President Tong Attends 1ST International Language Resources Protection Conference

OnSeptember 19^th, the 1^stILRPC(International Language Resources Protection Conference) is held in Changsha. This conference is co-organized by UNESCO, MOE of China and People’s Government of Hunan Province. A number of experts and government officials from over 40 countries and regions around the world negotiate for the protection,application and promotion of language resources. Tong Xiaojiao the president of HFNU accepts the invitation to attend the opening ceremony.

This conference is one of the significant campaigns that UNESCO holds for“2019 International Local Language Year”, which also represents the remarkable achievement of Chinese language resources protection project. The theme of this conference states “the function of languages’ diversity for building a community with a shared future for mankind: language resources protection, application and promotion.”

Chinese representatives give their opinions on language resources protection. Cao Zhiyun, director of CLRPRC( Chinese Language Resources Protection Research Center), raises 3 notions (“using multiple languages”,“protecting in speaking”,“striding across the gap”) and 3 methods（“government guidance”,“experts implementation”,“social participation”）, which is the Chinese pattern of language resources protection. Wang Han,a famous Chinese TV host and consultant for CLRPRC, shares his own experiences of studying dialects in the country.

Other subjects relative to language resources protection are also heatedly discussed. President Tong and several professors of HFNU attend these discussions.
