Over 3000 freshmen learn fire safety knowledge

From September 18 to 20, Security Department, Students’ Affairs Department and all the schools of HNFNU promoted fire security information into the military training program to help freshmen improve sense of security and escaping skills. All freshmen, class instructors, members of security department and security personnel of the Tianchuang property management company took part in.

Mr. Long and Mr. Wang from fire safety training center gave the lectures in the activity. They explained main reasons of the college fire cases, offering ideas on how to call the police and how to put out a fire. They pointed out the fact that frequent breaking out of fires was because of high residential density, the risk of fire of teaching and experiment, the aging electricity facilities and so on. These were objective factors. But as for subjective factors, there were absence of consciousness of fire safety and fundamental common sense of fire safety, school regulations violations. They emphasized that prevention is the main method to safety. So, students must comply with school regulations. Don’t use high-power electrical appliance such as quick heater and cooker. Don’t connect the power supply privately. Don’t throw away butt at random. Don’t light mosquito-repellent incense and candle optionally. Don’t burn sundries. Before the experiment, we should know those unsafe factors existed or might happen in the experiment, be familiar with the laboratory and the surrounding location of fire equipment and master the way to put out a fire. They demonstrated to students the usage of fire extinguisher, fire hose and fire escape mask. They also explained self-saving ways to escape from fire. Facing with fire, a person should keep calm and send emergency signals in time. Everyone should learn how to prevent smoke and create shelter by taking advantage of available conditions.

And then students imitated evacuation drills to escape. With a hurried alarm rang, freshmen bent down and cover their noses and mouths, evacuating to safe exit along the corner quickly and orderly.

The safety lecture was held with the help of the provincial education department and fire department. In order to organize the activity orderly, HNFNU carries out “Three Ones” activities among freshmen every year, including training of fire safety skills, evacuation drills to escape and theme class meeting of fire safety. The purpose of the activities is to ensure each student and teacher to prevent fire from the start, put out fire early and escape from fire by himself and improve their consciousness of fire safety and the level of fire safety on campus.
